Y Soft upgrades employees’ technical equipment on a regular basis. For example, every Y Soft employee receives a new laptop every two years. Y Soft donates the used laptops to Brno Diocesan Charity to help ensure that the diocesan workers have the technology they need to do their community service jobs. In 2011, Y Soft donated 18 laptops, 3 PCs and 17 monitors to the charity and in 2012 donated another 42 similar items.
Y Soft also kept the charity in mind when we moved to our new headquarters in 2012. The comprehensive conversion of a former manufacturing building into modern offices designed by Projektil necessitated the acquisition of new furniture. Since the old furniture was still in very good shape, we gave it to Brno Diocesan Charity.
“We realized a long time ago that second-hand equipment will be put to better use by the charity than if we sold it to a dealer below price. On top of that, our cooperation with Brno Diocesan Charity has been smooth and professional, which supports mutual trust. It’s good to know where all our equipment ends up," said Marcel Fejtek, Y Soft Business Operations Manager.
Individual employees of Y Soft provide financial contributions, as well as clothes, toys, and household appliances through a collection organized on the Y Soft premises—already in its fourth year. "We organize the collection two or three times per year and always collect a huge pile of items which we give to a good cause," says Martina Konečná, founder of the collection. Over CZK 10,000 was collected in a raffle at the Y Soft Christmas party. This gift was used to support the Foreigners in Need service of the Center for the Socially Disadvantaged, a program that helps asylum-seekers, refugees, and expatriates with integration and is co-funded by the European Union – celsuz.cz/sluzby-pro-cizince/integrovat-se.
