Our story dates to 2013, with an unexpected printer bug. To avoid an exhaustive spreadsheet project, we decided to run a technology experiment. That's how the idea was born.
AIVA was established as an incubated project in YSoft Labs in 2014, built to test physical touchscreens with a camera and a robotic arm. There was no DOM or code to hook into, just a physical screen, so AIVA had to "see" it visually, the same way a person would.
That visual approach turned out to be just as useful without the robots. Today, AIVA applies it to web applications, automating tests the way a real user would, by looking at the screen rather than the code behind it.
