Y Soft’s team spirit helps charities worldwide

Former Communications Director
Every year Y Soft celebrates its birthday with a party we call “Scandal.” Everyone on the Y Soft team loves a good party and participated with enthusiasm. This year, in addition to having a great time, we were thrilled to raise $7,168 for charity. Y Soft CEO, Václav Muchna, said: "I love the way we were able to pull together for a good cause while at the same time have fun and build our team spirit.“

Focusing on fun, collaboration, and doing good works, we organized our celebration a little differently this year. Instead of having one party at Y Soft headquarters, we held Scandal parties in each of Y Soft’s three main regions, EMEA (Europe, Middle East, and Africa), APAC (Asia Pacific), and NALA (North America and Latin America). Each regional team joined forces for a game in the form of a series of fun exams. Based on the exam scores, teams earned stones that represented money to be donated to charity. At the end, it all added up to having a lot of fun, team-building, and giving back something of value to our communities.

“When we calculated how much money we would donate at the end of the game, I was so proud of this company and what we achieved! It was one of my most memorable moments at Y Soft,” said Muchna.

Each region chose the charity they wanted to support. The EMEA region, with corporate headquarters in Brno, Czech Republic, chose the Brno Diocesan Charity. Brno Diocesan Charity provides support for people who cannot take care of themselves as a result of age, physical condition, mental disability, or adverse social conditions. Y Soft employees in the EMEA region donated a total of $5,048, which was divided among three of the Charity’s projects. Each $960 we gave provides one of the following:

  • One medical bed for a person with a chronic illness or physical limitation
  • Accommodation and assistance services for one person with a mental disability for four months
  • A contribution towards building an addition to a daycare center for people with intellectual disabilities and autism.

In the APAC region, Y Soft employees gave $1,000 to the Operation Hope Foundation (OHF). Based in Singapore, OHF’s mission is to transform the lives of children and the poor in developing countries. In addition to building homes for children who have nowhere else to go, OHF has expanded into community development and skills training.

Y Soft employees in the NALA region chose to donate the $1,120 they raised to Action Against Hunger (ACF International), a global humanitarian organization committed to ending world hunger. ACF International works to save the lives of malnourished children, as well as providing communities with clean drinking water and sustainable solutions to hunger.
