It’s no secret that the primacy of paper is diminishing. The world’s largest enterprises foresee a marked reduction in business printing by 2025, driven by the ascendance of digital communication technologies. At Y Soft, we believe this revolution is as important as the invention of the printing press was in the mid-15th century. As technology evolves, how do we best serve persistent human needs?  People still need to communicate. Businesses still need to document, store and share critical information. Skills still need to be acquired and passed on.

The challenge we’re committed to addressing now is the employment experience—a journey that starts with hiring, proceeds through training, promotions and transfers, right up to the point an employee leaves the company, or your company merges with another one. In today’s world, jobs take many different forms—seasonal, part-time, remote, gig. A worker may never visit corporate headquarters or shake hands with his or her boss. But job performance —still— reflects the quality of interactions between company and worker. Making those interactions meaningful, content rich, and easy is the goal of a solution we’re developing now.
 

Common sense suggests and research confirms that employees who are engaged, feel seen and honored and are more productive.

 
They do their jobs better and contribute more to the company as a whole. That engagement starts with the first encounter between a job seeker and a prospective employer. Meet-cute romantic movies notwithstanding, a good first experience makes for a good relationship over time. That’s one reason that Y Soft’s development efforts focus on those important first encounters. In employment lingo, they’re called Pre-boarding and On-Boarding.  One happens before you’re hired, the other after. Each brings significant benefits to both parties in the new hire equation—for the employee, speed and ease, for employer, more efficient uptake, lower cost and dramatically shortened time to job proficiency.

Our solution’s technology is designed to establish a positive relationship between new employee and employer from the first digital handshake. With it in place, the mountains of first-day, first-week paperwork can be signed, sealed and delivered by the new hire’s start date.  He/She can study up on the org chart, he/her place in the organization, workgroup peers and leaders and company policies. The first day on the new job, on-boarding technology nails it all in place.

How would this be different from the Human Resources Information System (HRIS) companies use now?


Think of it as the difference between raw information storage and positive human interaction.
 
Of course it’s great for your business to have all your docs in a row.
Even better that you can search those docs to find what you need, check details or prove compliance. No doubt HRIS makes HR more efficient. But it has little or no impact on the employee experience. And smart employers know that the employee experience is directly related to their bottom line.
 
According to polling done by consultants at the Brandon Hall Group (BHG), new hires with access to on-boarding technology achieve job proficiency twice as fast as those who do not.
