Customer Profile
A large port authority in Egypt required a complete overhaul of their print and scan solutions to meet the needs of a busy and international business. Looking to ensure security and compliance with documentation, they needed a solution that was fast and easy to use in a pressurized environment.
Alexandria Port Authority controls the Alexandria Port located on the western edge of the Nile between the Mediterranean Sea and Lake Mariout. It is one of the oldest and most important ports in the Middle East and Africa. It is also the largest port in the area, handling up to 1 million twenty-foot equivalent units daily and approximately 60% of all international trade for Egypt.
Challenge
With many departments and locations, Alexandria Port Authority’s printing had become demanding and disparate. They wanted to move away from silos and instead manage all of their print services centrally. Their main concerns included security, consistency, and costs.
As a port authority, they deal with thousands of confidential documents every day and wanted a way to ensure that these were printed and processed securely and quickly. Removing the risk of human error when processing and distributing document scans was also a concern.
With high network security settings, it was important to find a solution that would integrate well and work for them.
Solution
The solution chosen to meet the challenge was YSoft SAFEQ Print Management Suite. Ensuring the requirements of high security and cost savings, this solution was an ideal match. SAFEQ’s authentication features lock down access to their printers, only allowing those who are authorized to release their print jobs while at the printer.
Using SAFEQ 6’s scan workflows with their FTP system meets the required high levels of security and is compliant with the Egyptian Ministry’s communications regulations.
Finally, SAFEQ’s pull printing feature, Print Roaming, resolved concerns around how long it takes for users to access the documents. Now, users can print where and when they need from any printer within the network.
Major General Hossam El-Reweny, Vice President, Alexandria Port Authority, said, “We chose the YSoft SAFEQ solution as it met our high-security requirements and needs.”
"As a port authority, we have large numbers of documents to print every day and we needed to save costs and time. This solution helps us achieve this."
Benefits
After years of using an outdated and cumbersome print environment, the Alexandria Port Authority quickly realized real savings in terms of costs and time by using YSoft SAFEQ.
Receiving documents is now efficient and quick. Thanks to Print Roaming, postal staff no longer have to wait for documents to be delivered between offices and departments. All users can now print, copy, and scan securely and remain compliant.
"We have very quickly seen a difference now that we have transitioned to using YSoft SAFEQ. We are happy that we know our documents are secure and compliant."
Overall, Alexandria Port employees have seen the following benefits:
